The ASSOS _S7 line marked a major technological milestone in cycling apparel design. Introduced in 2014, it replaced the six-year-old _S5 generation and redefined the concept of total comfort in cycling shorts. The line featured four primary models – T.neoPro_s7, T.equipe_s7, T.cento_s7, and T.campionissimo_s7 – each tailored to a specific riding style and body type.
Introduction[]
The comfort revolution continues. After six years of _S5, ASSOS presents the new industry benchmark: _S7. This is the next generation of legendary ASSOS total comfort cycling shorts, incorporating patented features and innovations that were previously unknown. These are by far the most advanced, most comfortable cycling shorts ASSOS has ever created.
Key technological innovations[]
The _S7 platform introduced a complete range of new materials, construction techniques and patented features that together defined the generation.
- aeroPatterningFenomeno1: Minimal-seam aerodynamic pattern developed from wind-tunnel testing for the 2012 Olympic FENOMENO chronosuit. Patent pending.
- Y7 frame carrier bibTech: Y-shaped bib construction providing wrinkle-free stability and contour fit during motion.
- superFlat grippers. Ultra-light, low-volume leg grippers with calibrated elasticity for secure hold without excess pressure.
- bibStabilizer. Silicone-reinforced stabilizer that also functions as a sunglasses holder.
- A:E:M:T (asymmetrical elastic module tech): Directional textile elasticity that supports muscle elongation and stabilizes movement.
- muscleStabilizer: Higher spandex content providing vibration damping and reducing muscle fatigue.
- odourControl: Antibacterial fiber treatment reducing fabric aging and preventing odor build-up.
- abrasionProtec: Enhanced abrasion resistance compared with previous _S5 generation fabrics.
- iceColor: Sunlight-reflective treatment reducing heat absorption and maintaining stable muscle temperature.
- speedDry Tech: Textile weave construction that accelerates moisture transport for faster drying.
- saddleGripSurface: Micro-textured surface increasing saddle stability during pedaling.
- ergoKompressor: High-performance compression fabric applying anatomically balanced pressure adapted to body movement.
- memoryFoam: Shock-absorbing foam that returns instantly to its original shape after pressure release, maintaining consistent comfort.
- ASSOS goldenGate (Patent): Floating insert attachment interrupting seams between the legs for true three-dimensional freedom of movement and minimal friction.
- ASSOS waffle (Patent): Perforated multilayer foam replacing solid padding to reduce weight and increase breathability.
- ASSOS superAir (Patent pending): Further perforation of the lower foam layer to decrease weight and enhance airflow.
- ASSOS rearTerminal (Patent pending): Rear insert integrated directly into the back seams for lower volume and smoother transition zones.
- kuKuPenthouse (Patent pending): Front pouch construction forming a soft fabric nest that supports and cools male anatomy without compression.
- anatomical side flaps: Optimized side shaping to reduce heat and chafing along saddle contact zones.
The _S7 model range[]
The _S7 generation consisted of four main models, each corresponding to a fit type and use case.
